In Annecy :
The centre of the town is mainly pedestrian. The main street - rue Carnot, la rue Royale, la rue du Pâquier, the quay of the Thiou, la rue Sainte-Claire and the little winding streets taking you up to the castle are traffic free. There are many shops, including craft shops, art galleries, shops specializing in local gastronomy, fashionable clothes shops and jewellery shops.
Some of the notorious food stores for example:
‘Pralus’ for pralines, Crèmerie du Lac and the Fromagerie Gay (for cheeses and other dairy products), le Fidèle Berger (for pastries, cakes and chocolates).
On Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays you can go and stroll around the old town and you can taste some of the local and seasonal products.
The old town unveils its past as you walk around its narrow alleys: the castle, the churches, the canals, memories of bygone days. Tourist guides are available on request to find out more about the region.
If you are hungry, there are a multitude of typical restaurants bordering the Thiou canal and the pedestrian streets.

La scène nationale Bonlieu offers a very varied program in music, dance and theatre.
In the same building, the médiathèque de Bonlieu proposes books and films to borrow on three floors.
A modern building The Brise Glace, a cultural and artistic centre for musicians and artists where recording studios are available and a concert hall of 483 seats and a club of 120 places.
