Lac d'Annecy
Massif des Aravis
Offices du tourisme

The mountain villages have a story to tell for those of whom would like to take time to listen.
The Aravis massif forms anticlinal valleys and plateaux cut off by cols and valleys eroded by the torrents; it has sheltered for the last 10000 years an audacious population, free and courageous, living off the land from wood and farming.
On the other side of the lake where the Bauges natural park gently slopes down sheltering many charming villages, nature lovers can stop and admire the countryside.

Since the XIIIe century, the little villages of the Aravis are associated to Reblochon cheese, to old chalets, pastures and the dome shaped church bell towers.
Here the mountains are accessible with plenty of things going on.
Whether you decide to stroll around the shopping streets of Thônes or admire Menthon-Saint-Bernard Castle from the little footpaths of Bluffy or walk through the Bouchet or the Clefs, we can feel the history of the inhabitants and we are immersed in their sense of freedom.
At equal distance to the ski resorts of the Aravis and Annecy’s lake, these little villages are an ideal spot for holiday makers to stay who do not want to choose between the countryside, the mountains and the lake.

On the other side of the lake at the start of the Bauges natural park, la Chapelle-Saint-Maurice, Entrevernes, Leschaux and Saint-Eustache. We can find typical old farms with tiled roofs. Here farming has had to adapt but still preserves its traditions.
These villages perched on the hillsides make up an exceptional setting for walks. The view of the lake and the majestic summets of the Tournette, the Laudon Valley, and the wild nature reserve of the Bauges national park, the charming villages… So many reasons for a stop-over.
