Make the most of the lake! Pedalo, swimming, canoeing, kayak…

Laze about on one of the many beaches that have facilities for children and swimming instructors.

Go on one of the many boats to discover the villages around the lake and the surrounding summits.

Go for a breath of fresh air by taking the children up one of the most accessible footpaths; there are many to choose from (plateau du Semnoz, plateau des Glières, col de la Forclaz…

Go and visit one of the natural sites of the region: les Gorges du Fier, the nature reserve of the Bout du lac (Pays de Faverges), the footpath of the Roselières (Saint-Jorioz…

Put your harness on and climb up the trees! Many adventure parks are available to have fun.

Choose one of the many trampolines in one of the children’s castles in Saint-Jorioz.

La Clusaz’venture in July in La Clusaz: an outdoor festival of different and original events, open to all, adults and children. Kayak, tyrolean, climbing, mountain bike and endurance test: off we go for the adventure!

Swimming across the lake : in Annecy every August , everyone can join in and whatever his/her level can participate in the short or the long race.

Defi-Foly in La Clusaz in April : the craziest slide in the Aravis, on the Confins lake.

FIFA (international animation film festival): the annual meeting of all the professionals in film animation, with films shown in several cinemas and also outdoor projections. In June, in Annecy.

Music festival: once a year the streets are filled with different sounds; amateurs and professionals from all different backgrounds gather together to provide street entertainment.

14th July Public Holiday: each commune has its own firework display, take our advice and go up in the mountains to make the most of several displays at the same time! Viewing points: Mont Veyrier, Semnoz around the lake, Beauregard in La Clusaz…

Les Montgolfiades, at the beginning of July in the Grand Bornand: international meeting of hot air balloons with more than 20 hot air balloons floating up the top of the summits.

Noctibules: in July in Annecy, thirty outdoor performances with acrobats, fanfares, singers and comedians all through the night, not to be missed!

The Petits Princes Tennis Tournement in July/August : the best players of Europe in the 13 age group.

Annecy’s famous Fête du Lac : two hours of non-stop entertainment to appreciate the beauty and the harmony between the music and the fireworks. In August in Annecy.

“Les nuits de rêve de Menthon-Saint-Bernard” (dream nights): in July, shows for children on the edge of the lake. According to the years: street shows, circus or horse-riding shows ending with a big firework display.

Alpine festival every August in the Grand Bornand: old crafts, an outdoor meal, cow milking demonstrations and sheep dogs, show of chars, dancing and a big firework display…

International Festival of shows for the young public “Au bonheur des mômes” at the end of August in Grand Bornand: more than 90 companies and 300 representations covering all the facettes of a live festival!

Things to do

The town carnival: in March in Annecy, we all go out disguised!

Alpine festival: in October in Annecy, we celebrate the return of the cattle on the plains. The occasion to see the procession of animals through the streets of Annecy and to discover old trades and crafts and taste some of the local produce.

A large open street fair: in Annecy for the last 5 centuries, we celebrate Saint André in November. More than 1000 street and shop sellers reduce their prices before the Christmas rush and there is also a fair ground for the younger ones.

Christmas in the Alps: in December, the Christmas village at the Imperial Palace. Proposes different beautifully decorated stalls which sell a variety of handmade Christmas decorations and toys for children; a must, it’s like being in fairyland.

The “Pestacles du Père Noël”, at the end of December in La Clusaz: rediscover the magic and Christmas traditions thanks to many art and dance associations, fanfares, fairytales. One unforgettable week during the Christmas holidays: for little ones and big ones alike.

Venetian carnival: in February or March, Annecy brings out its most elaborate clothes and masks.
